Meet Our Team

Ryan WestonRyan Weston: Social Justice and Advocacy Consultant
Ryan has been engaged in the intersection of faith, social change, and education – both locally and internationally – for his entire adult life. Prior to joining the Diocese, Ryan worked in public engagement and volunteer management with The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul and the Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace. He has also taught courses at the university and college level, served on the boards of directors for several community organizations, and been involved with various ecumenical and interfaith partners. He has a Ph.D. in Religious Studies and an M.A. in Social Anthropology.

Ryan is committed to mobilizing Anglicans and their parishes to recognize their ability to act for positive changes to social policy through both advocacy and service, and has a particular commitment to continuing to include youth and young adults in this work. He is available to meet with parishes about starting or expanding outreach initiatives, engaging in direct advocacy, or exploring connections between faith and social justice. He is always happy to be invited to guest preach on social or environmental issues and almost never says no to sharing a meal with those who are hungry for justice.

Ryan can be reached by email or phone at 416-363-6021, ext. 240 (toll-free: 1-800-668-8932, ext. 240).

Elin Goulden: Parish Outreach Facilitator for the York-Credit Valley area
Elin Goulden (B.A., LL.B., M.A.) studied at Wycliffe College and received her M.A. in Theology in 2008. Her prior work experience has entailed service at all three levels of government, including work for the Public Interest Law Centre of Legal Aid Manitoba and for Environment Canada, as well as teaching two Lay Ministry courses through Wycliffe College.

Since January 2010, Elin has been working part-time for the Diocese of Toronto as Parish Outreach Facilitator for York-Credit Valley. In this role, she serves as a liaison between area parishes and the Diocese on matters of social justice, outreach, and environmental concern. Elin works directly with individual parishes or groups of parishes in York-Credit Valley interested in deepening and expanding their outreach ministries. She also leads workshops on topics of social and environmental justice at diocesan events such as the annual Outreach Conference and Diocesan Synod as well as at Shalom Justice Camp 2012, and is available as a guest preacher on social and environmental themes.

Elin is passionate about connecting the biblical call to justice and wholeness for all of God’s people and creation with the day-to-day life and work of the church. She has long been inspired by Isaiah 1:16b-17: “Cease to do evil, learn to do good; seek justice, rescue the oppressed, defend the orphan, plead for the widow” as well as the cosmic vision of redemption in Christ portrayed in Colossians 1:17-20 “He is before all things, and in him all things hold together… and through him God was pleased to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, by making peace through the blood of his cross.”

You can reach Elin by email or by phone: 416-762-2485 (landline) or 647-206-2485 (cell).
